Blood stasis in the descending thoracic aorta and its relationship to cardiac functional parameters
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Spin echo Axial T1 images are used to evaluate the great vessels and cardiac structures. In some patients with depressed left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) the sequence fails to null blood of the descending aorta (dAo) at the level of the main pulmonary artery (MPA). This may represent stasis of blood from the aorta and reflect a decreased LVEF, stroke volume (LVSV) and/or cardiac output (CO). This finding has not systematically been studied. We evaluated the relationship between opacification of the descending aorta and cardiac functional parameters.

Upper Extremity Ischemia Complicating Ulcerative Plaque in Descending Aorta
A 54-year-old female patient was presented with upper extremity ischemia. Further investigation revealed ulcerated atherosclerosis plaque in aorta with intramural hematoma and clot formation. The subject underwent a successful surgical resection of mass with the assistance of cardiopulmonary bypass and total circulatory arrest.

Abstract Traumatic descending thoracic aorta pseudo aneurysms have been treated traditionally with open surgery in the past, which have had noticeable rates of mortality and morbidity. A safer method of treatment for this disease is made possible with recent progress in endovascular treatment techniques. In this article, we present three cases of Traumatic descending thoracic aorta pseudo aneu...
متن کاملChanges in vascular reactivity of the coronary artery and thoracic aorta in the delta sarcoglycan null mutant mice
Introduction: Mutations in the delta sarcoglycan gene (d-SG) cause limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2F with structural and functional alterations in cardiac, smooth and skeletal muscle. The objective of the present study was to improve information about changes in vascular reactivity of the thoracic aorta and the coronary artery in the perfused heart of the d-SG-null mutant mouse model. ...
متن کاملPost-surgical hemodynamics in aortic valve bypass (AVB) patients evaluated with phase contrast magnetic resonance (PCMR)
Background Many high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis cannot undergo valve replacement surgery due to calcification of the ascending aorta. Aortic valve bypass (AVB) surgery uses a conduit and prosthetic valve placed transapically into the left ventricle to divert flow from the apex of the heart through the conduit and prosthetic valve to the descending thoracic aorta to improve cardia...
